Samsung, the leading South Korean tech giant, holds the largest market share in the Android smartphone market. It is known for innovative flagship devices. To maintain its commitment to user security and data protection, Samsung has challenged hackers and cybersecurity experts worldwide to find any vulnerabilities in its software. As part of this event, the company has announced a new bug bounty program, offering a reward of over Rs 8 crore.
What bugs will get you paid?
Samsung has announced that researchers who find security flaws, such as arbitrary code edits and system damage, will be rewarded. The company is looking to detect issues like data extraction, device unlocking, remote application installation, or bypassing device security.
Different rewards for bugs fixing
The value of the bug bounty program has been increased to $1 million (about 8.4 crore rupees) based on the number of dangerous bugs found. The largest reward is for those who can break through Knox Vault’s security and execute remote code on the hardware security system. Knox Vault is Samsung’s security system that stores cryptographic keys and sensitive biometric data.
The bug bounty program rewards those who find bugs in the system. Samsung said in a blog post that both security researchers and ethical hackers can earn rewards for discovering flaws.
